The title of this site is a homage to Italian lifestyle and comes from the legendary 3 hours movie "La dolce vita", filmed in Italy in 1959, by Federico Fellini, with that mythic actor calledMarcello Mastroianni, and the girl coming to Italy from abroad... In the movie her name was Sylwia (Berlusconi :-), Anita Ekberg, as coming down from the Olympus, she represented the woman-Goddess celebrated in this site. Not only the expression "la dolce vita" comes from that movie, but also, for example, the name given to photographers, "paparazzi" :).Besides, "dolce vita" became the name of a kind of jersey. This movie caused a scandal for Church (and nobility), as today Da Vinci Code... In the kaleidoscope story Marcello (short name for "Marco" :) is a man who renounces to a career as a writer... The story conveys the love for gossip, as in this blog. The most famous scene is this here above, an epic one in cinema's history, when she goes inside the fountain in the night, and invites him to follow her... "Marcello, come here!" More than a masterpiece.
(F. Fellini, "Raccontando di me")
"Sunrise" by Mick Hucknall (Simply Red), he lives in Milano, 'cause his wife is from Milano (I have her telephone number :), she's a lawyer)
Dedicated to an English model from Winchester I met in the streets of my city Milano.
Make up your own mind about The Da Vinci Code as Winchester explores its concepts, symbols and mysteries.
Dating back over 900 years, Winchester’s world-famous cathedral is as remarkable for its hidden treasures as for its spectacular architecture. Here, in the longest medieval nave in Europe, you’ll find outstanding works of art alongside the tombs of Jane Austen, Izaak Walton and the early English kings.
Winchester Cathedral provided the backdrop to some of the opening scenes in The Da Vinci Code, where its north transept portrayed the Vatican. The cathedral is now running a major exhibition entitled ‘Cracking the Code’, which invites you to explore the concepts and symbols in the book and to discover Winchester’s very own images and icons.
The exhibition runs until 21 July 2006 and is supported by a series of talks at Winchester College Chapel. And for our future historians, there are code-breaking trails and activities for children available throughout the summer. See www.winchester-cathedral.org.uk for more information.
Winchester is set to appear on the big screen once again in early 2007, when it will feature in Shekhar Kapur's 'The Golden Age' - the hotly anticipated follow-up to Kapur's award-winning 'Elizabeth'.
You're everything. You know that you're everything? You're everything, everything. You're the first woman of creation, you're the mother, the sister, the lover, the friend, the angel, the devil, the earth, the home. The home! That's what you are. (Marcello Mastroianni, La dolce vita)
